Enable CTRL+A Functionality in Fields

When entering a number for a location or size, the fields will automatically select all on the initial click, or when triple clicking, but the standard CTRL+A does not select the whole field. Example: I tried to type 40-00-00, but accidentally put 00-40-00. I can't use CTRL+A to highlight the field and change it. I either need to click out of the field and click back in, or triple click to select the whole field.
