Andrew - interesting suggestion. With the Show Hidden, the action of hiding an object has already taken place so it's obvious what happens when you use the shortcut. Whereas to hide, an object first has to be selected prior to the command. That may be why it is not available to be assigned a short cut key. I will consult with software developers to check my theory.
